About us

Work that began in 1987

Consejo Nacional de Prevención is a nonprofit organization founded in 1987. It continuously collects and shares information on health prevention, focusing on adolescent psychoactive substance use, alcoholism, family communication, and mental and emotional health.

The organization promotes a culture of prevention in Colombia by providing accurate, reliable, timely information to people who are or could be at risk. We have delivered hundreds of completely free talks and workshops on these subjects throughout Colombia.

Our professionals are well trained in these subjects and in addressing audiences using engaging, simple language without scientific jargon, making the message understandable regardless of educational background.

Our mission

Promote health prevention through free talks, workshops and training for teenagers and adults. We aim to reach schools, neighborhoods, businesses and the wider community with relevant, accurate information about issues affecting them.

Our vision

To be an exemplary organization recognized for contributing to a culture of health prevention in Colombia, with highly trained professionals providing accurate, timely information that helps reduce the impact of challenges facing our country.

Our objectives

  1. Raise awareness of prevention as the foundation of everyone's physical, emotional and social wellbeing.

  2. Encourage family communication on drug and alcohol prevention, healthy relationships and mental health, recognizing the family's primary role in learning about these issues.

  3. Support schools through training for parents on raising children and teenagers, developing independence and responsibility, setting boundaries, communicating with children and health prevention.

  4. Provide current information, including about the dozens of new synthetic and third-generation drugs that young people need to understand in time to prevent use.

  5. Provide ongoing support to government and nongovernment programs promoting prevention in Colombian society, schools and families, especially among young people.
